Mrs. Heather Parrish has been at Island Prep Preschool for almost 6 years! Her sweet demeanor and kind heart make the children feel completely at ease on their first day at Island Prep. Her love of art and conceptual, outside of the box teaching methods are the reason the children grow a love of school and learning and are filled with passion. She encourages them to crave knowledge about the world around them. Mrs. Parrish’s preschool class student gush excitedly about all they learn throughout the day.
Mrs. Parrish has been teaching in early childhood education for over 15 years with a strong focus on art, movement, and sensory development. With a BFA in Fine Art, she moved from the cold New York Streets to the sunny beaches of Florida and has never looked back! (Well maybe once or twice) She and her husband Mark and their daughter Dorianne tried their hand at the South Florida lifestyle a few years back only to find St. Augustine calling them back.
Mrs. Parrish’s background in the arts shines through in her never ending creativity and craftiness. She is a master of finding new ways to teach her students each year, knowing that all children learn differently and at their own pace. With every new class she has grown as an educator, and never loses her enthusiasm for teaching or loses sight of what is truly the most important aspect of her classroom, her students.
