LEARNING BEGINS AT ISLAND PREP PRESCHOOL – ST AUGUSTINE

Our commitment to education begins the moment you walk through our school doors.

Our preschools are home to our younger students. There are currently three Island Prep Preschool St Augustine locations: the original Anastasia Island location on A1A south, close to our Elementary School; IP West, on US 1; and Bayside Preschool, in Davis Shores. The preschool classes are setup to meet the developing needs of toddlers through four year old students. Students move through our classrooms based on developmental needs and not solely date of birth. We understand that all students develop at their own pace and our school values this process. We want every student to flourish both socially and academically in the most comfortable and natural environment possible.

An Island Prep education begins with our preschool

From the early stages of development our students are immersed in a creative, educational and encouraging environment. With each age group in our program, we establish a preparatory approach to education through a fun, engaging learning atmosphere. At Island Prep we impart a love for education and the school environment which will last through their educational career and help them to develop social skills and natural independence which grows at the unique pace of each child.

Active, discovery learning which is child-oriented and teacher-facilitated is a fundamental part of our curriculum. Our inclusive developmentally appropriate classrooms provide activities geared towards the age of the children while allowing for individual variations in interest development and experience. Our teachers develop guided learning centers with open-ended activities and materials based on the knowledge of their children’s personal concepts, skills and experiences.

Students at Island Prep Preschool St Augustine are able to gain valuable knowledge through play

We offer the opportunity to:
  • Freely make choices
  • Solve problems
  • Form their own conclusions
  • Interact with others
  • Pursue their interests
  • Experience learning as fun and fascinating
  • Build confidence in themselves as competent, capable and successful learners
  • Build language and literacy skills,
  • Begin to understand mathematical and scientific relationships and cause and effect

We want the children in our program to flourish in an imaginative and nurturing environment, taking with them both knowledge, friendship and the feeling they are part of a school community which will be the building blocks for their future.
